Friday, December 29    Welcome to Iceland!    B, D

We arrive in Reykjavik at 6:40 am, and will meet our local guide. After breakfast, our adventure begins with an introduction to the unique landscape for which Iceland is known. We'll drive to Reykjavík via the Reykjanes Peninsula and experience the coastline, lava fields and the rift between the European and the North American tectonic plates. See one of the oldest lighthouses in Iceland, and stop at the country's largest mud pool, Gunnuhver. Enjoy an orientation tour of Reykjavik, ending at our hotel. This afternoon, take an optional excursion, relax or explore the city before our Welcome Dinner at our hotel.

Horseback Riding, 1pm - 6pm, $98 per person

The Icelandic Horse is calm and sturdy, and unique in that they have a 5th gait called the tolt. After your ride, enjoy coffee and a home-baked treat. All abilities, riding gear is provided in all sizes and for all types of weather.

Whale Watching, 1pm - 4 pm, $90 per person

Winter whale watching continues to surprise visitors with the wildlife it offers. Herring and capelin are the main prey available attracting humpback whales, killer whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises to the area.

Taste the Saga Brewery Tour, 5:30 - 8:00 pm, $67 per person

Tour Ölgerðin brewery and journey through history of brewing in Iceland, dive into the local drinking culture, taste beer and other beverages from Ölgerðin's main brewery as well as a selection of ambitious beers from their award-winning craft brewery, Borg Brugghús.

Northern Lights* Cruise, 9:00 pm, $90 per person

Sail out into Faxaflói Bay, and leave behind the bright city lights. Experience the Northern Lights constantly change in intensity, color and movement in the vast starry space. The open top viewing decks provide the perfect platform for witnessing the dazzling spectacle while the heated indoor lounge is a great place to take a break and warm up in between sightings.

Saturday, December    30 Optional Excursions / Day free in Reykjavik    B

We'll enjoy breakfast at our hotel. Today is free to explore Reykjavik on your own, go shopping, enjoy a spa treatment or take an excursion!

Golden Circle Tour, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, $95 per person

This is a great introduction to Iceland! See the Nesjavellir geothermal field, and Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and one of the world's oldest parliament was founded in 930 AD. See the Gullfoss (Golden Falls), majestic and thunderous as well as the Geysir geothermal area, home of the famous Geysir and Strokkur hot springs.

Game of Thrones Tour, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, $99 per person

Visit the stomping ground of the White Walkers and the trail of the Wildlings from North of the Wall at Þingvellir National Park and get to know the symbolic significance of the setting in context to the plot. Walk around the Settlement Era Viking Lodge in Þjórsárdalur valley where elaborate scenes were shot and one of the most hair raising massacres of the series took place.

Inside the Glacier, 8:30 am - 6:30 pm, $268 per person

Experience Langjökull glacier for an adventure deep inside the glacier. The caverns are an extensive system of tunnels and chambers that stretch close to 300 meters into the solid ice cap towards a breathtaking natural Ice Cave at the heart of the glacier. You'll be able to explore various nooks and chambers and walk over a huge ice crevasse on a specially constructed bridge. As you walk further along the tunnel, the ice gets older and its colour gradually changes from white to deep-blue.

Sunday, December 31    Aurora, Cheese & New Year's Eve    B, D**

After breakfast, we'll head over to the Aurora Reykjavik for an exhibition of Northern Lights. Learn about the auroras through stories and legends from around the world, about the science behind this amazing phenomenon and see spectacular Northern Lights photography from top Icelandic photographers. Continue to the Cheese & Skyr School to delve into Iceland's cheese history and discover what cheesetastic future lies ahead for this nation of people who have the third largest consumption of cheese in the world. Afternoon is at leisure before we meet for our special dinner tonight.

Celebrate New Year's Eve with a dinner party, then a guided Reykjavik Bonfire & Christmas Lights Tour where we celebrate with Icelanders at one of the many bonfires that are situated all over the city.

Transfer from your hotel to Harpa Concert Hall where we will enjoy a welcome drink. A festive 4-course gala dinner is served on the ground floor with amazing views over the downtown harbor and the bay of Reykjavík. After the main course, we will be picked up by our guide for the Reykjavík Bonfire & Christmas Lights Tour where we celebrate with Icelanders at one of the many bonfires that are situated all over the city. The tour takes about 2 hours between 8:30-10:30. After the tour, we go back to Harpa Concert Hall for dessert. At midnight, with sparkling wine, we celebrate the New Year and experience the one-of-a-kind fireworks for which Iceland's capital is famous. Then, we dance the night away to a local live band. Regular transfers back to the hotels are between 12:30-2:00 am.

Tuesday, January 2    Blue Lagoon/Departure    B

Breakfast at hotel. We'll check out and drive through the lava fields to the Blue Lagoon for a swim in the mineral-rich, geothermal water.

The Blue Lagoon:

The geothermal water is led directly to the Blue Lagoon from wells as deep as 2000 meters/6000 feet and the water stays warm and inviting at 36-39°/100-110°F throughout the whole year. The Blue Lagoon's warm water and natural active ingredients, mineral salts, silica and blue-green algae help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life.


Treat yourself to a unique, open-air massage which will take place in the lagoon itself! This relaxing massage will use massage oil that contains Blue Lagoon active ingredients and essential oils. The pre-booked in-water massages are available for 30 minutes. See prices below. Depart from the Blue Lagoon early afternoon for transfer to the airport. Depart on Icelandair at 5:00 pm, arrive Boston at 5:40 pm.
